What is a SUPA Club?
A SUPA Club is a group of primary age children who meet regularly to have fun and learn about Jesus and the Christian life.
What happens at a SUPA Club?
A SUPA Club is more about developing relationships than running a particular program. A flexible but structured program is provided for use in the club. Activities may include exploring the Bible, games, singing, drama, prayer, social events and weekend or holiday camps.
What is the purpose of a SUPA Club?
A SUPA Club offers a safe place where all are made to feel welcome. It rovides opportunities for children to investigate life’s questions and explore them from a Christian perspective. It encourages children to find out for themselves what the Bible says. SUPA Clubs provide opportunities for children to help and care for one another, develop leadership skills and to serve the school community.
A SUPA Club meets under the leadership of a team of a local Christians appointed by Scripture Union with the agreement of the school principal. Appointment involves an application process, including a national police record check and references, as well as participating in regular training.
How much does SUPA Club cost?
SUPA Club is free to all children. Regular running costs are covered by local churches.
When does SUPA Club meet?
SUPA Club usually meets weekly or fortnightly at lunchtime or after school. It may meet for just 4-6 weeks during each term or just in terms 2 and 3.
The role of Scripture Union staff is to support and train leaders of SUPA Clubs and to regularly contact and visit clubs. They help develop resources and materials used in clubs, share ideas with the leaders and are able to assist with planning. They may also talk with school principals, teachers and parents about SUPA Clubs and the wider work of Scripture Union.
