Biblical Theme: Living Jesus' way in this world
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus expressed many truths about God, and living in this world in a way that pleases God. Like the two builders in one of Jesus' parables, children have to choose what their foundation in life will be, and whether their attitudes, values and lifestyle will be similar to the world about them. Jesus says there is a better alternative although it is hard to live by. Living Jesus' way means loving those who hurt you, not getting one's own back. Having a critical spirit blinds us to our own faults that may be even bigger. Children are urged to dispel the wrong in the world by being lights that reveal what is good, right and true.Stylistic Theme: Pop music culture
Pop music has a strong influence upon children. The wealth, glamour, popularity of pop and rock bands appears very attractive. In this unit children will be shown behind the scenes. The career of this pop music band is strongly influenced by shallowness, hypocrisy, and unscrupulous people who are only concerned about themselves. The band begins to fall apart when one of the members expresses dissatisfaction with the way the band lives and works.
