Identifying and developing emerging young leaders

When: Monday July 12th - Thursday July 15th, 2010

When is leadership identified, encouraged and developed? As early as possible. The aim of Youth Leadership Week is to resource churches in identifying and developing emerging leaders for now and the future.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP WEEK BRINGS YOUNG EMERGING LEADERS TOGETHER TO:

Inspire you to participate in what God is doing in his world;

Facilitate your personal development;
Help you discern your God-given vocation;
Provide mentoring opportunities;
Develop you biblically and theologically;
Build a mutually inspiring leadership community.

TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS, YOUTH LEADERSHIP WEEK WILL:

Enable you to meaningfully engage with the Bible and grow in your Christian faith
Provide leadership opportunities through action oriented, team based learning;
Stretch you personally, physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually;
Facilitate a personal learning plan for your development;
Link you to a 12 month mentoring program;
Connect your learning experiences back to your local Church and school.

Youth Leadership Week combines action orientated team based activities with input from the Bible, small groups, reflection, coaching, and stories from current leaders.

MISSION FOCUS
We aim to inspire you to participate in what God is doing through Jesus in rescuing and transforming his world. Your school is one of many meaningful places where you can do this. Students can do significant things in schools, and we want to empower you to do so by helping you in developing opportunities to live out and communicate your faith at school.

CHURCH PARTNERSHIPS
It is our conviction that the local Church is a key point for your development as a young leader. As we partner local Churches, you must be ‘sent’ by your local Church. We encourage you to speak to your church leaders about sup-porting you in prayer, sponsoring you for some of your YLW fees, and giving you opportunities to report back and apply the things you have learned.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Students in years 9 – 12 who are ready and willing to be challenged and developed personally and in their leadership.A partnership with some of SA’s main denominations, the week-long conference in July, linked with a 12 month mentoring program, develops emerging student leaders in years 9-12 to be effective in ministry in their church and school.
